A New Era

Shadows of Temuair is a private server for classic Dark Ages, built on the Stone client (4.51). This is our formal announcement: what the project is, what it is not, and the direction we are taking.

Why Stone?

Because the Stone client carries the original Dark Ages soul. The modern client leans bright, saturated, and heavy on alpha-blended effects. Stone is darker, gritty, and closer to the pixel-art look that defined the world. That aesthetic matters, and it shapes the entire experience.

Classic Reimagined

Our goal is Classic reimagined. We want the original feel and fun of Dark Ages, with the cruft and jank fixed, and real balancing to keep the pacing rewarding. Progression should still feel earned, but not punishing for the wrong reasons.

Familiar Yet Improved

The familiar locations, maps, systems, and monsters will remain, but with stronger balancing and smarter AI. Classes will also stay true to their roots, with skill and spell progression fleshed out across the level ranges—especially the options that once felt lackluster.

PvP and Arena

PvP will very much be a thing, with a focus on fun, balance, teams, 1v1, and multiple rule-set matches. There will be plenty of room for players to spectate these battles as well.

What This Is Not

This is not a 1:1 carbon copy of the original game. We will keep what makes Dark Ages feel like Dark Ages, but the old game is not a hard rulebook. Additions, removals, and adjustments will happen when they improve the experience. The goal is a game that feels like Dark Ages, but better.

Quality of Life, Still Dangerous

Quality of life improvements are planned, but the grind and sense of danger stay. Progression should still be rewarding and earned, not given away.

Vision and Roadmap

This is the initial vision and roadmap. It will take time to implement, and some pieces will be refined as they are playtested. Things can and will change, but we intend to stay true to the overarching goals laid out here.

More details will come as systems solidify. For now, this is the mission: not simply the Dark Ages you remember, but the Dark Ages you wished it could have been.

Teasers and more information will arrive in the coming weeks.
